Certified organically produced caraway

Caraway is one of the most challenging plants to grow organically. As a 2-year plant the risk of weeds is more than likely in the crop years; also plant nutrition with organic matter only reduces the yield potential. The yields are commonly less then 50% of what is reached in normal production.

By producing organic caraway we only rely on crop rotation, mechanical cultivation, and organic fertilizers to maintain soil health and plant nutrition and to minimize weeds and diseases. Every procedure during growing, harvesting, cleaning and storing is done under strictly controlled conditions. The organic production is controlled by the local authorities and National Food Agency Finland.
